Business Entity Search
1. Go to MA Corporations Search Page
2. Search Using Entity Name
To discover whether a chosen name is available, make sure that Entity Name is selected under Search By, then enter the name in the available field. Select the type of search using the drop down list and click Search Corporations.
There is also the option to search by Individual Name (see image), Identification Number (see image), or Filing Number (see image), although these are better suited for looking into the details of a particular entity.
3. Review Results
1. Name Available – If there are no records found (see image), it likely means that the name is available and can be used for a new business in Massacusetts.
2. Name Unavailable – If the name appears in the records list (see below), or it’s very similar to one that appears, its presence on a registration document may result in the filing’s rejection.
To see more information beyond the entity name, ID number, and address, click the Entity Name link of any listed business.
